David Obua debate still divides fans even after Cranes fall

Two weeks after Uganda Cranes failed to advance to the Africa Cup of Nations in 34 years the debate of David Obua’s dismissal from the national camp rages on through social networking sites on the internet.

On the disgraced player’s fan page on facebook a fan Ronnie Lwanga wrote “GIVE HIM A BREAK….ITS HIS TALENT BACK OFF LADS”

It is not the first time that the

Ugandan international has been embroiled in controversy on the pitch. While he has temprimental side in his game, the player has immense talent and several fans think that his battles in the national team have been due to Uganda’s football “Politics” that have always been the cause of our downfall at a time when we need to be united to see the nation achieve its goals at the world soccer stage.

Geofrey Kalanzi wrote “GROW UP MAN……FOOTBALLERS LIKE LAMPARD TAKE PRIDE PUTTING ON THEIR NATIONAL COLORS. YOU LET UGANDA DOWN MAN BECAUSE OF YOUR SELFISH BEHAVIORS. BOO YOU.”

Sendi Allan wrote “u man wen will u ever come down to knw how much we injected in dis last campaign i here u only want gd life man u r a ugandan bt wen u come and u just show off to us we have seen many.”

Obua was dismissed after walking out on the team before the president of the nation paid a courtesy visit to the national camp according to “reports” the tricky midfielder wanted to ask the president questions and was denied the opportunity.
Another fan Ikong Joseph wrote “politics in sports failed uganda from qualifying….evertything put aside we would have qualified had OBUA been of the field. let get facts right how many missed chances and also experience from our strikers… the cranes also under the leaership of both captains shud have stood their grounds….. howmany times has museveni gone to visit uiganda cranes….. politics politics…its high time mulindwa steeped down and another person helps move uganda football to even greater heights. dont get me wrong mulindwa got us fromhere and took us there we now want to move from there to even higher heights. david you willalways be my inspiration… to hell with football politics some body save our cranes….edgar watson its ur time now”
Uganda needed to beat Harambee stars to advance for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 34 years, but battled for a scoreless draw while Palancas Negras from Angola beat Guinea Bissau 2-0 away to steal the top slot in Group J.
