Africa’s top badminton player Edwin Ekiring has moved up to 99 in the Badminton World Federation latest rankings that where released today.

The Holland based player scooped 2130 points for reaching the finals of the South Africa International in Pretoria, last week. The All Africa games silver medalist would have bagged more points if he had won the tournament and starts another

quest for more points on the world badminton circuit when he takes part in the XI Italian International in Rome, Italy,next week he will conclude his season with the Turkey International from Dec 19-22 in Istanbul.

Ekiring was ranked 101 in the world and has picked a total of 4630 points out of two tournaments that is Botswana International and South Africa International that alone and he continuing to improve his game he is now guaranteed his position for next summer’s Olympic games in London.

Meanwhile Uganda Badminton Association(UBA) has received 5.5 million shillings for the Baroda Badminton Open tournament due tomorrow at Kampala club a total of close to 100 players are expected to take part in this three day tournament which is the season ender of the UBA. The defending champions are Wilson Tukire and Margaret Nankabirwa.
