Express building a young team

Express football club are in no rush to hype their season as they have had an impressive first round in the Bell Lager Uganda Super League.

The Red Eagles finished the first round of the league in second position after battling to a scoreless draw at the Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku on Friday afternoon and finished with 28 points one point less than defending champions URA FC

who where 4-1 winners over lowly FireMasters FC.

“I am happy with this team and I have a young side that I have put together am just worried that you people of the media will spoil these players,” Sam Ssimbwa said after the last match of his side in the first round. “Do you see any stars in this side you are talking too much about this boy Bonney Baingana, but this is young side that needs to be handled well.”

The stylish Express coach has molded a side with diminitive player Baingana, Edgar Luzige,Joel Ogwang and the industrious skipper Willy Kavuma. The side has had a merry run in the league that has seen them score 23 goals and conceded ten goals with Ogwang and Luzige scoring seven and five goals for their side. “I am contended with the progress of the side though many people didn’t expect it,” Ssimbwa said. “I have no contract with the side and I am happy here at Express.”

Express Football Club’s rejuvenated form has brought back its passionate fans back to the stands and if they maintain this form could surprising claim the league which they last won in 1996.
