Clubs to receive last batch of SuperSport Money next week

This will come as relief to the clubs that signed the deed of adherence of USL and sponsors. Reports from Uganda Super League ltd confirm that 15 of the 16 super league clubs will recieve the last batch of the Shs 68m next week.

The first batch of Shs 30m was recieved in instalments in the first round of the season. However, the only mishap in the last batch is that clubs may recieve Shs 10m less than the expected Shs 38m.

USL Chairman Kavuma Kabenge confirmed that that the money is already at the secretariat but was not certain of the specific

amount each club will get.

“The actual figure which clubs will get will be decided after the board meets the financial committee today”, said Kabenge adding that the adjustments are due to the drop in the exchange rate and other un budgeted for costs.

“The exchange rate has tremendously dropped something we have no control over. To that, add venues which were not in our budget, running of the secretariat, and the like. We have to adjust”, concluded Kabenge.

It should be noted that most clubs are in a financial crisis something that is threatening to ruin their season especially at Masaka LC. Perhaps the officials will use the money to pay players.
