Simba SC piled more misery on Mike Mutebi’s Villa after handing them a consecutive league defeat. Swalley Ssonko scored the only goal of the game in the 16th minute by tapping in a Godfrey Ssentongo neat cross. Fred Kajoba’s side dominated much of the game in the first half and Villa had to be twice saved by the wood work from skipper Wakaza Godfrey’s shots.
Noah Ssemakula had to be replaced by Ndaula Moses in the 35th minute as Simba over powered the visitors in the midfield. In the second half, Mike Mutebi had to bring on Musamali Paul
for the injured Kasadha Lawrence. At this time, Villa began to take control of the game but Simba defence stood firm. In the 86th, Villa thought they had finally beaten Simba’s resilience when Ssembatya Godfrey tapped the ball into the back of the net after custodian Kalyowa Emma had parried Bengo’s free kick into his path only to be denied by assistant referee’s raised flag for offside.
The loss is Villa’s second in a row after suffering a similar fate against Proline FC two weeks ago. The loss didn’t go well with fans, players and some technical staff. This was evidenced when Villa players led by Bengo Steven, Kirabira Isaac and Ssembatya tried to angrily inquire from the match officials why their goal had not stood. These were joined by goal keeping coach Kiggundu who had to be refrained by Simba Coach Fred Kajoba from fighting assistant referee Ali Ssekimwanyi.
