
Africa’s number one Badminton player Edwin Ekiring, has landed a three week training programme in Chennai, India ahead of the summer Olympic Games in London from July to September.
“I have landed a three weeks training programme ahead of the games in India and I am delighted about it cause it will give me the opportunity of meeting some of the best players in the world getting ready for the games,” Ekiring said in a message to Kawowo sports. “
Ekiring is one of the athletes who has booked his ticket for the games the other is weightlifter Charles Sekyaya, who is undergoing a Olympic Solidarity Scholarship in the United States ahead of the games.
Ekiring plays for Dutch side Amersfoort it will be his second attempt at the games however the Ugandan badminton ace has earned the necessary experience ahead of the games.
Uganda will be eyeing medals in athletics and other disciplines however Uganda’s preparations have been over shadowed by the Uganda Olympic Committee’s president Roger Ddungu’s squabbles with his executive over his stance of “appointing” himself the chief de mission for the games and also his battles with his general secretary Peninah Kabenge.
