The victory helps MUBS consolidate their 4th position with in the League and it’s the team everybody should keep an eye on. The league campaign began badly for MUBS when they were beaten 2-0 by Nkumba University in September and this didn’t please both the players and the fans and from this point they were always on a road to recovery.
Kyambogo University didn’t play as expected from its fans as the mistake was initially made in the partnership of centre halves in Joseph Bukenya and Tom Mugabe yet the weaker wing was the right back where Bukenya had to play. After the second goal, the Kyambogo tacticians thought about it and pushed Bukenya to right back and introduced a new centre back who tried to contain the lethal attacking side of MUBS.
Kyambogo gradually settled in the second half changing the tactics to long balls as they wanted to capitalize on the height of the goal keeper of MUBS Fred Ovoya. Ismail Edu from his midfield position curled in along range ball which only hit the cross bar while the Keeper couldn’t recue the situation but was lucky enough to be helped by the wood work.
Though Rahaman Adui wasn’t in play for the entire game as he made various mistakes but he stood tall in the dying minutes when MUBS made the last contributions with in the game as Marvin Mbago struck a powerful shot out of the 18 yards only to be saved by the goal keeper and the rebound found un marked Shaban who struck a goal only to be denied by the assistant referee.
Still towards the end MUBS gowns were burnt by Kyambogo fans who were angry with their result. And at the final whistle MUBS fans came in the field to celebrate their victory only to be chased by the angry Kyambogo University fans.
