Nkozi 1-4 Nkumba
A late brace from substituent Vincent Onyango propelled Nkumba University to a sounding 4 -1 victory over whipping boys Uganda Martyr’s University in a thrilling Nile special super six University league encounter played at a slippery Nkozi ground. Nkumba opened the floodgates with a first minute Boikou William own goal following a teasing Dan Nsubuga perfectly weight cross from the right.

The joy was shortlived as Nkozi’s striker Alfred Mugarura beat goal custodian Mutebi Ronald with a low drive for the equaliser with just a minute after restart. Nkumba would have registered a cricket score hadn’t it been for sloppy funishing from forwards Muwawu Faizo, Allan Zirimenya and Mugerwa Yassar.

Halftime ended 1 apiece as Nkozi continued with its resilient defending under the command of skipper Okot Moses. Nkumba introduced fresh legs of Vincent Onyango for a weary Faizo Muwawu and the results were instant as the lanky striker netted a double to register his first league goals. Pacy winger Dan Nsubuga capped a fine evening in office with a brilliant goal that sealed  Nkozi’s fate.

The result pushes Nkumba to second place on 14 points, 2 below the log leaders, Makerere who host Kyambogo on Friday (1st Nov).
