Nkumba 0-0 KIU
A resilient KIU side held Nkumba University to a goal less draw in a pulsating Nile Special Super Six Inter University Football league encounter played in Entebbe on Thursday. KIU’s gallant fight is attributed to goalie Eric Ssebayiga who foiled numerous daring chances from wasteful Nkumba forwards, Onyango Vincent, Dan Nsubuga and subsistut Muwawo Faizo.

Infact KIU would have carried the day hadn’t second referee assisstant Anna Akoyi not disallowed a seemingly genuine kagingo Ismael diving glancing header off Yusufu Mohamad’s defence spliting cross after the latter’s fancy footwork that left Nkumba’s right back Masereka Mubarak crawling on the ground in the 29th minute.

This highly guarded match kicked off at 3:30 p.m for fear of crowd trouble that has marred the league of late. The result means Nkumba University remains glued in the second position with 15 points, with Makerere on the summit of the six team log. “It is a heart breaking result at home”, said Nkumba’s stand in captain, Mugerwa Yassar who was substituted due to a foot injury.

The league is organised by Rhino sports International and is proudly sponsered by Pepsi, Rwenzori mineral water, Nile Breweries. Action resumes on Sunday when Kyambogo travel to Nkozi.
