Inter-Vasity Super 6 Football Championship

KIU 2-2 Nkumba

KIU dented Nkumba’s title hopes following their 2-all gallantly spirited display in their last super 6 inter-university fixture played at Nsambya on a cloudy Wednesday skyline.

Enter this thrilling fast paced game, the Kasanga based institution were only fulfilling that mandatory unwritten rule of honouring the fixture and their pride at stake.

Indeed KIU played to save face and restore their fading dignity that had eluded the team of late.

Nkumba, who needed a win to leapfrog leaders,Makerere drew the first blood with a superb Yassar Mugerwa acute angled free kick that caught custodian Derrick Ssebayiga napping.

KIU paid back in the same currency, just a minute later when midfield maestro,Edison Nkahebwa sent a 35 yard low drive beat Ronald Mutebi in Nkumba’s goal posts.

Somalian Yusuf Muhammed, who will be part ofthe horn of Africa nation’s Cecafa squad made it two for KIU after defender Aziz Kirya misjudged a high ball.

Nkumba equalized through a calculated Faizo Muwawo volley after fancy Yassar Mugerwa footwork. The latter capped his 5th goal of the campaign. Action resumes on Thursday as 3rd placed MuBS hosts the log leaders, Makerere.
