It looks clear Ethiopia won’t use this year’s Cecafa Tusker Challenge Cup as part of the preparation for next year’s Nations Cup in South Africa after its federation has decided to send a second string side to the tournament.

According to the nation’s leading sports website EthioSports, Ethiopia Football Federation (EFF) released a list of 21 second string players to represent the horn of Africa Nation at Africa’s oldest national competition.

Only four players (Gatoch Panom and Massoud Mohammed (Eth. Coffee), Yared Zenabu & Mesfin Kidane (St. George) have been chosen from the country’s top clubs Coffee and St. George with the rest chosen from other clubs.

The team however has two foreign based players that include Fuad Ibrahim (Minnesota Stars – USA) and Fikru Teffera (Thanh Hoa – Vietnam).

The team will be headed by Coach Seyoum Kebede and his assistant, Daniel Gebremariam.

Ethiopia is pooled in group A alongside hosts Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan and opens the tournament with South Sudan on November 24th.
