Africa’s premium television channel DStv and its sister company GOtv have unveiled a comprehensive football package for its subscribers and viewers in the continent ahead of the gruelling  Orange Africa Cup of Nations tournament slated for South Africa next year.

According to a press statement subscribers will view action in High Definition, plus magazine shows, with detailed pre and post-game studio analysis from leading football experts and well packaged highlights, SuperSport is set to provide an optional viewing experience to viewers in 47 countries.
Pleased that DStv and GOtv subscribers will have the opportunity to watch the Afcon live on SuperSport, MultiChoice Africa CEO Nico Meyer says, “African football continues to develop, producing some of the finest talent in the world. Afcon is a showcase for this skill and strength and so we are very happy that we can offer DStv and GOtv subscribers the opportunity to watch action from the tournament. Afcon is especially significant for MultiChoice because, as a business, we’ve partnered with SuperSport to invest widely in creating a platform for several African domestic leagues. We are committed to showcasing the stars of this continent.” the statement read.

 DStv Premium subscribers with access to an HD PVR decoder can watch all 32 games live and in high definition – there will be 28 games on the dedicated Afcon channel SuperSport HD 2 and 4 games on SuperSport HD 1 (which will be specifically used as an overflow channel for games that kick off at the same time).

Next year’s edition will have surprise entrants Cape Verde, who will be making their debut at Africa’s biggest soccer tournament while South Africa will be hosting the tournament for the second time in history notable giants Ghana will be 19th appearance at the tournament and Cote D’Ivoire will be making its 20th appearance.

 Meanwhile DStv Premium subscribers (without an HD PVR decoder) can watch all 32 games live – 28 games on the dedicated Afcon channel SuperSport 4 and 4 games on SuperSport Blitz. DStv Premium subscribers also have access to SuperSport Select which, whilst not a dedicated Afcon channel, will also screen 28 Afcon games.

 DStv Compact Plus, Compact, Family and Access subscribers can watch action from Afcon 2013 on SuperSport Select (28 live games) and SuperSport Blitz (4 live games).
