Newly appointed SC Victoria University Coach Alex Isabirye has reiterated that he is ready for a new challenge and promised to build a formidable side.
“I am not here to do what the others failed to do but will try my level best to build a formidable side at the club”, the 35 year old told Kawowo Sports in an exclusive interview.
“It’s a new challenge but provided there is enough support from management, my staff and the players, everything will be possible”, he continued.
On comparison between his new employers and URA FC, the former SC Villa forward who penned a two year deal with the University club said;
“This is a different side with different targets and philosophy. At URA FC, the management is all about winning trophies but I guess it’s different for a new club like SCVU”, he said.
“At the moment, building a formidable team and creating its own entity in style of play and philosophy is all that i consider first. However, that does not mean that we shall not fight for the title”, he clarified.
When asked whether he won’t miss URA FC, Isabirye who won a league title and Bell Uganda Cup for the Lugazi based club said his profession doesn’t call for that.
“I don’t think my job calls for such”, he joked. “May be I will miss a few players but football management is like teaching, you find good students wherever you go”.
“I am willing to work with every player at the club and they will all be given a chance to show what they can offer”, he re-affirmed.
Isabirye also hinted at signing a few players in the January window but said the club will only go for quality players whose contracts are running out.
“I have already signed three players from Proline FC (Anthony Bongole, Patrick Edema and Apollo Razak) but we may add one or two. Our target is those players who have quality but not expensive especially those whose contracts are running out”.
“I understand the club wasted a lot of money in the July-August window and we don’t need to repeat the same mistakes”, Isabirye.
Isabirye replaces Ivan Zoric and Sam Ssimbwa whose contracts were terminated by the club. He is set to work with Morley Byekwaso (assistant) and Moses Oloya (goal keeping Coach) starting with the FSL second round.
