With most efforts and focus leaned on the men’s senior national team, two coaches from Kolkata Knight Riders’ team that won the fifth edition of the India Premier League (IPL) are set to pay a six-day visit to the country this weekend.

The pair of highly rated coaches Vijay Daya and Adrian Lepus were among the big brains at the side lines as Riders outwitted reigning champions Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in Chennai to lift their maiden IPL title last year.

Their stay here mainly backed by the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) and the Mehta Group will see them pass on skills to local coaches before they handle the U-19 boys’, senior women’s and men’s national teams at Lugogo Oval.

The latter team will be the main beneficiaries. They return home on Monday (January 28) from a friendly series’ tour to the Middle East.

But they have no time to rest as they will have fitness testing principles, warm-ups and net practice on Tuesday before a gym session and more fielding practice (catching) on the subsquent two days.

Coaches Martin Suji and Steve Tikolo will also be involved as the pair tries to add a spark to the boys and enhance their preparations as they seek to defend their Africa T20 Division I title  as well as the ICC World Cricket League Division III trip due April-May in Bermuda.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is a cricket franchise that represents Kolkata in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It is owned by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s company Red Chillies Entertainment in partnership with actress Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta from the Mehta Group.
