Brian Umony says he is wary of the huge expectations on his shoulders as he starts his stint with the Dar es Salaam side Azam FC.

The Cranes striker who was voted as the Most Valuable Player in the Tusker Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup signed a two-year deal with the Tanzania giants from Kampala City Council.

“There is always pressure to perform for a player playing in a foreign Country. I am quite aware of the expectations the management, fans and Coaches have of me and I am ready to work hard to help the team Achieve its goals,” Umony told The Citizen newspaper.

“Azam are a great side and they are ambitious as well. Working along their principles is great for a player and I am certain it will improve me a lot and I am glad to be part of the team.”

Umony has had stints in the US with the Portland Timbers as well as South Africa with SuperSport United and Becamex Binh Duong in Vietnam, before moving back to Uganda where he had been playing for KCC FC.
