Gor Mahia FC Coach Zdravko Logarusic says that reigning Kenya Premier League player of the year Daniel ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuma is not in the right form to start games for the club at the moment but insists the Cranes international is not far from regaining his best form.

The Croat was reacting to comments on why the former Express FC and Victors FC centre forward has been benched in the club’s previous two games.

“Yes, Sserunkuma was our top scorer last year and the best player in the league but at the moment, he is not at the right form to start games”, Logarusic told Michezoafrika.com.

“You can see Kiongera and Lavasta are on form and their partnership producing results”, he continued before adding, “For Danny, I know his form will come much later because he is also picking up”.

Logarusic further stated that he will be picking his side based on form and not a particular pattern of the starting team thus players will have to earn a starting role based on performance.

Sserunkuma is yet to find the back of the net this season and started the Conf Confederations Cup 5-0 win over Anse Re-Union of Seychelles on the bench plus the 1-0 win over Sofapaka in the KPL over the weekend.

He also lauded his striking line as the most lethal in the KPL at the moment.

“Look at Kiongera, Kelvin Omondi, then Danny and Lavasta. All these are national team material. I’m comfortable as coach having such a forward line since it supports my attacking philosophy”.
