2014 World Cup group J qualifier

March 24th, Liberia Vs Uganda

Uganda Cranes left fullback Godfrey Walusimbi is confident the Cranes can go to Liberia and pick maximum points.

The two nations clash on March 24 in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in group J in Monrovia.

“I am confident we can go to Liberia and get a win”, he told Kawowo Sports. “I don’t know much about Liberia’s national team but I have respect but not fear for them”, Walusimbi added.

Uganda Cranes’ last visit to Liberia was in the 2000 Africa Nations Cup qualifying campaign where they lost 2-0 to the George Weah inspired side an indication that history is against the Cranes. Furthermore, Uganda has never picked maximum points from away encounters in the World Cup qualifying campaigns. On this history, the former SC Villa and Bunamwaya SC player who currently plies his trade with CS Don Bosco of DR Congo said; “I have a feeling that we are going to end that poor record come match day. As players, we are determined to re-write history”.

Uganda lies second in the group with two points from as many games while Liberia are bottom placed with one point. Senegal leads the group on four points while Angola is third with same points as Uganda.
