Liberia Vs Uganda – Monrovia

Uganda Cranes kicked off intense training Monday morning ahead of the crucial group J 2014 World Cup qualifier slated for March 24 in Monrovia at the Samuel Konyan Doe Sports complex.

16 players of which seven are foreign based attended the first session that was conducted by coaches Bobby Williamson, Jackson Mayanja and Fred Kajoba. The foreign based players that trained in the morning include Captain Andrew Mwesigwa; DR Congo based Godfrey Walusimbi, Simba SC’s Abel Dhaira and Musa Mudde plus St. George duo of Isaac Isinde and Robert Ssentongo. These were joined by local based stars; Hamza Muwonge, Nicholas Wadada and Joseph Mpande (Vipers SC), Savio Kabugo and Denis Guma (SC VU), Habib Kavuma (KCC FC) plus URA FC’s Said Kyeyune and Moses Feni Ali.

Surprisingly, players like Feni, Mpande, Kabugo and Kavuma were not included on the Fufa technical committee’s list of summoned players.

Meanwhile, besides Henry Kalungi who is expected in the country on Tuesday (tomorrow) and Geoffrey Massa and Joseph Ochaya who will wait for the team in Ghana, all the summoned players are expected in the country by today.

The team starts residential training on Tuesday 19 and will reside at Sky Hotel, Ntinda before departing for Accra, Ghana on Thursday 21 where they are set to camp for three days before connecting to Monrovia.

Uganda lies second in the group on 2pts just two below group leaders Senegal while Angola and Liberia are third and fourth respectively.
