Bright Stars Vs Iganga (Not played)
With just a few games to the conclusion of the FUFA Big league, Uganda’s official second tier football league, politics, fair plus foul play, and inevitably diligent displays are being applied by the respective teams.
The Competition is definitely stiff when the teams fight for promotion to the FUFA Super league as the others fight the relegation monster. The four weekend fixtures scheduled had only three games played with Iganga Municipal Council, a team headed by Chairman Competitions Committee, Issa Magoola failing to travel to Kawanda Research grounds for a date with Bright Stars.
“We received no official communication from the visiting team’s absence, but we have already secured the official referee’s report and shall await for 48 hours to hear from Iganga”, Decolas Kiiza, FUFA Comptitions Secretary told Kawowo Sports.
As we await for the verdict of Iganga’s fate, Soana grabbed a late victory in Entebbe against Nkumba University with a superbly taken Dan Wagaluka goal on 80 minutes. Soana’s victory drove them on the Rwenzori group summit on 31 points with two games to go.
Ndejje University condemned Arua based Mvara to their third consecutive away loss with a 3-1 home victory in Luweero. Mvara had earlier on being massacred 9-0 by Soana at Kavumba before losing 2-0 in Nkumba a day later. Wandegeya beat UTODA 2-1 at Kitezi in the other fixture.
In the Elgon group, CRO, Mbale Heroes and Soroti Garage are in top contention for the direct promotional slot as well as the other two play off slots.
Meanwhile, in the Uganda Cup, defending champions host Express f.c at the Lugazi Mehta on Tuesday in a round of 32 match expected to be a thriller. Simba hosts Bombo United in the other fixture at Bombo Army Barracks.
