Uganda Rugby Cranes Sevens team has progressed to the quarter-finals of the Confederation of African Rugby 7’s tournament in the Kenyan city of Mombasa.

The feat follows two remarkable victories in the group stages, the first coming in the opening game against west African opposition where the Ugandan youngsters humbled Nigeria 10-5 at the Sports Club in Mombasa.

The youthful Cranes side, captained by Alfred Bijik succumbed to overwhelming favourites, Madagascar by 24-00 before bouncing back with an emphatic 12-5 win over another Western Africa side, Senegal.

The quarter-final winners will progress to the semis while the losers drop  to the plate category.
