Africa’s top Badminton player Edwin Ekiring is looking forward to playing the top players in the world at the Badminton World Championship due on August 5-11 in Guangzhou, China.

It will be the first major championship for the Holland based Ugandan as he seeks for high ground ahead of more important tournaments next year.

“This is a very important tournament for me and my preparations have started early for it,” Ekiring said. “I however will need support from Uganda Badminton Association, well-wishers and the country as a whole for financial support for this mission.”

The 2007 and 2011 Bronze and Silver medalist will be looking at this event as a perfect build-up to next year’s Glasgow Commonwealth Games in Scotland.

It will also give the Ugandan Olympian an opportunity to fastened his position as Africa’s top badminton player and at the same time elevate his ranking in the world if he performs world at the championship.
