A goal in each half from New Castle talisman Papiss Demba Cisse was all Senegal needed to reclaim top spot in group J of the 2014 Africa World Cup qualifiers defeating Liberia 2-0 in Monrovia.
The Lions of Teranga had dropped to second position on the log following Uganda’s 2-1 win over Angola a day before.

Cisse opened his account on the 19th minute mark from the penalty spot after Lone Stars defender Robert Omega fouled Musa Sow in the forbidden area before completing a double eight minutes after restart.

The striker however had to be stretchered off close to half an hour to go after suffering an injury. Nevertheless, the visitors held on to their lead keeping their road to Brazil campaign on track and also their unbeaten run against Liberia unscathed.

The win lifts Senegal back on top of the group with nine points just one behind Uganda Cranes while Angola and Liberia stay on four and out of contention. It now remains the game involving Senegal and Uganda Cranes in September to decide who progresses to the final round. Uganda Cranes must beat the Senegalese while a draw will see Senegal march to the final round.
