Ex-Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson commenced his Gor Mahia reign on a winning note as K’Ogalo pipped Chemelil 2-0 in a Tusker Premier League played at Nyao stadium on Wednesday evening.
A goal in each half by Ramah Salim and Paul Kiongera was all Bobby’s charges needed to overcome a determined Millers side.
Salim opened the scoring for the hosts in the 44th minute when he headed home from close range after Chemelil goalie Jairus Adira failed to tame Edwin Lavasta’s shot but punched it back into play.
Kiongera doubled Gor’s lead in the 62nd minute following a brilliant pass from Ramah Salim.
Despite attempts for the visitors to force at least a draw, the hosts stood still till the final whistle.
The win lifted Gor Mahia to the top of the log with 29 points two ahead of second placed Thika United.
Ugandans Ivan Anguyo and Israel Emuge made substitute appearance while Cranes striker Daniel ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuma was an unused substitute.
At City Stadium, Lloyd Wahome’s 84th minute strike was the difference as hosts Mathare United defeated reigning champions Tusker FC.
Victory helped Mathare United go 11th on the table with 19 points while Tusker stay 9th with 21 points. Action resumes over the weekend with eight games line up.
