3rd Aug: Balangira 1-0 Musu (1stLeg of Round 2)

Mon, 5th Aug: – Nakivubo Stadium (4: 00 pm)

Yayo Lutimba scored a spectacular 35th Minute goal for Kabaka Mutebi’s Balangira to beat Nabagereka’s Musu Clan in the Bika Bya Baganda second round first leg fixture at Nakivubo Stadium over the weekend.

It was a highly billed historic match between the two clans that was also played on another equally remarkable day when Kabaka Mutebi II, who traditionally belongs to Balangira was celebrating his 20th anniversary of the Coronation. On the same day, the Kingdom also received the ‘lost properties’ that had been taken forcefully by the past central Governments.

“I am overwhelmed to give my Kabaka happiness with this history making goal, I actually dedicate this goal to him”, Lutimba, a Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), told Kawowo Sports with a bold smile across his face.

The fixture that coincided with the main celebrations to mark Kabaka Mutebi II’s 20th Coronation anniversary, also marked the beginning of this annual competition’s second round phase.

Balangira enjoyed long spells of successful ball possession with the duo of Jjuuko duo of  Murusid  and Yusuf excellently building up play from defence before dispatching the ball to former Uganda Cranes International Vicent Walugembe Kayizzi and Yayo Lutimba, though the latter proved wasteful on the slippery Nakivubo ground after an earlier down power.

Musu’s Umar Buleega, who plays in the Kenyan Premier league, had an impressive evening at office though he had not carried the goal scoring laces onto his white soccer boots.

The first leg fixtures of the second round resumes Monday when Mpweo hosts Nte clan at Nakivubo Stadium. Kick-off is 4 :00 p.m. Defending Champions, Ngeye hosts Mmamba Kakobozza on Monday, 11th August 2013.

Meanwhile, the quarter final draws were conducted at the half-time of that historic match. The aggregate winners of the second round fixtures over the two legs qualify to play in the quarter-finals.

The winner between Balangira and Musu will play the Nsenene/Mpindi winner. Other quarter-final dates will see Nvubu/Mbogo against Mpologoma/Nkima, while Ngeye/Kakoboza will face Mpewo/Nte and the last slot will be Lugave/Ngabi Nsamba against the winner of Njovu and Njaza.
