Close to two hundred golfers are expected to take part in the Barclays Golf Day tournament that is set for Friday at the par 72 Kitante golf course at the Uganda Golf Club.

Last week saw Entebbe’s Henry Lujja and Jinja’s Kenneth Kaheru qualifying to take part in the Barclays Kenya Open, which is a Pro-Am event and is part of the European Challenge tour.

Kampala golfers and others from various clubs will be vying to claim the other spot for the prestigious Kenya Open that will swing into action in February next year with several European professionals who will be vying to make the cut and join the European Professional Golf Association Pro-tour.

Last year Uganda’s Deo Akope and Herman Mutawe, took part in the prestigious tournament, but failed to make the cut.

Several Ugandan golfers are expected to take part in next year’s event, but will have to seek invitations from the hosts.
