English Premier League Side, Liverpool football Club’s community in the Merseyside has sent a condolence message to the family of Anthony Mutethia, a club’s fan who was stabbed in the chest to death by David Mwangi, a boda boda operator.

The two had a disagreement at the Makutano entertainment hub in Nairobi towards the close of the game in Meru on Saturday 8, after they thrashed Arsenal 5-1.

In their website ‘This is Anfield’, Liverpool Club mourned their fan saying he was very young. “He was just 25-years-old”. Various new agencies across the world reported about this unfortunate incident.

The ‘Liverpool Echo’ had a report that a Kenyan community leader from Liverpool Reverend Steven Gitonga, chairman of the Kenyan Community Association on Merseyside, said he was “deeply shocked”.

“The majority of football fans in Kenya know just the name of the club and wouldn’t know the club manager’s names. People should realise football is just a game and they should not take it too seriously. It’s really shocking to me that someone has died over football,” he said.

On their Premier League update page EuroSPORT carried the headline “Kenyan Arsenal fan kills Liverpool supporter during game”, and proceeded to introduce the story as such: “An Arsenal fan in Kenya stabbed a Liverpool supporter to death on Saturday while they were watching on television as the Merseyside club beat the Londoners 5-1 in the Premier League, said a local police chief.’

‘The Who Ate All the Pies’ sports Magazine reported that “Just months after a Manchester United fan leapt to his death in Nairobi after watching his side lose 1-0 to Newcastle, we have another instance of shockingly extreme post-match overreaction in Kenya. Apparently an ‘ardent’ Liverpool fan was stabbed to death at a bar in the town of Meru on Saturday by a livid Arsenal fan who was incensed after watching his side whimper their way to a 5-1 defeat to Liverpool.”

The story ends in a rhetoric acclamation “Hey, Kenya? Calm down a bit, yeah?”.vAccording to eye witnesses, both parties (Mutethia and Mwangi) were reportedly drunk as they commenced the drinking spree as soon as the game kicked off.

Towards the end of the match, the two developed a misunderstanding after series of mockery talk and Mwangi stabbed his counter part who was pronounced dead upon arrival at Meru Level Five Hospital.

Up to now, the Kenyan police authorities are still looking for Mwangi. “We are seriously looking for the suspect. We have his motobike which he left behind but nothing much will be revealed as of now for security concerns”, Imenti North police boss ,Tom Odero is quoted by Goal.com.
