Life presents exceptional scenarios. Whereas the heroes and champions are glorified, there are always those push up characters who at most are merely given a mention and in many cases, are absolutely forgotten.

From boxer Michael Tyson, Swimmer Michel Phelps, footballer Franco Baresi, Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar , Rower Sir Steve Redgrave to athlete Usain Bolt, and many others, there is that special person who might have spotted, took that keen effort to make the crucial follow up and nurturing of that special talent in those sporting idols.

Uganda Cranes 19 year old striker, Yunus Sentamu is no exceptional. As he played village football In the dusty and bare grounds of lake Katwe in Kasese, Peter Ssebulime, a youth football coach foresaw a special talent in the footballer.

“His pace and dribbling at 10 years were phenomenal. Infact, most cases, he would prefer to play as a goal keeper. I realized he would make a great footballer in the years to come once nurtured well”, Ssebulime speaks of the striker, who is on the verge of signing his first professional contract in South Africa.

Ssebulime made the revelation at a special Nile Special / Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) dinner that was specifically organized at the Lugogo Tennis club for the player who scooped the month of January top sports personality, an award that comes forth with a cash prize of Ush. 500,000.

“I advised him on how to behave well in the community, which schools to attend and which teams to play for. That is why when St. Mary’s Kitende came knocking when he was still in O-level, I told them to wait until when the boy has matured”, a jovial Ssebulime remarked after picking the player’s award and money prize.

Sentamu is currently in the South African town of Cape Town, where according to impeccable sources is finalizing paper work and medical tests to join Amazulu football club.

Sentamu was among the outstanding players at the 2014 CHAN championships held in South Africa where the young forward scored all the three nation’s goals, to finish second best top scorer on 3 goals (South Africa’s Benard Parker finished with 4 goals).
