A brilliant late – late John Neymar Kisakye goal from over 30 yards lifted FUFA Big league side, Lweza over super league side, Bright Stars in a thrilling Uganda Cup match played before a capacity cheering crowd at the Uganda Clays match in Kajjansi.
The result means Bright Stars becomes the third side in the top most flight division of football to be eliminated out of the Uganda cup after earlier elimination of Kira Young and Soana.
Lweza missed out on the services of former Uganda Cranes midfielder, Livingstone Mbabazi, who plays for the side at the same time the head coach at Bright Stars .
However, veteran Mathias Kisitu, they had a perfect replacement. The aggressive Kisitu was a first half replacement for Saad Kibirango.
He made challenges in the air, held up the ball superbly and was a hell for Bright Stars’ team skipper, Benard Muwanga all evening long.
With the clock fast clicking towards the end of regulation time, it took one moment of brilliance from Lweza’s forward, nicknamed Neymar for his trickery on the ball just like the Brazilian maestro. He twisted and turned on three defenders (Mubarak Tenywa , Auusi Kaaya and Benard Muwanga) and fired a fierce bullet that Sharif Ssozi failed to tame.
In the other games played in the Uganda Cup, Brian Torach netted a hattrick that was complimented by a rare Dan Nsubuga strike and defender Martin Mpuuga to give the defending champions, Sports Club Victoria University an away victory over Amuria Crane City.
In Entebbe, the home team Entebbe football club was ejected out of the cup following a heart breaking 4 -5 FIFA post match penalties that followed a barren draw played at the Fisheries training institute ground in Bugonga village.
Meanwhile in the two FUFA Super league fixtures played, SC Villa’s Striker, Karim Ndugwa notched a last gasp winner in the 90th minute to give his side a deserved victory over Proline while at Wankulukuku Stadium, Express midfielder, Allan Kyambadde’s brilliant strike from over 40 yards cancelled out defender Sam Ssenkomi’s earlier opener for Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) football club.
The league resumes on Friday while the Uganda Cup will continue next week.
