Uganda Cup opening quarter finals:

Hope Soana 1 – 2 SC Victoria University

Jinja Municipal 0 (4) – 0 (3) Bul f.c

Uganda Cup defending champions, Sports club Victoria University (SCVU) made easy work of Kampala regional side, Hope Soana with 2 – 1 victory in a match played at Kyambogo University (UPK) grounds on Saturday.

In another surprising result, FUFA Big league side, Jinja Municipal eliminated nemeis, Bul football club, a FUFA Super league team with a 4 – 3 penalty shoot out victory that followed a barren 120 minutes’ action of the game played at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja.

Diminutive striker, Allan Kayiwa shot Hope Soana in a 9th minute lead after a costly blunder from goalie, Emma Kalyowa. Victoria University replied back in the 25th minute through a Denis Iguma header after he superbly connected a Siraje Musindo well taken corner from the left.

Despite the rain showers that set in by the half hour mark , play continued. Striker, Noah Ssemakula made it two with another well timed header following a cross down the left from second half substitute, Muwadda Mawejje.
