UAP Kifaru 32-22 Hima Rwenzori
Ndovu 27-10 Bollore Chui
After Victoria Protectors tournament exit following their double match loss in a row, Hima Rwenzori remained the only hope for Ugandans in race for top honours in the 2014 Bamburi Rugby Super Series, until Saturday’s showdown.
Rwenzori who are still the most successful Ugandan side in the history of Bamburi Rugby having reached the finals in both 2011 and 2013, succumbed to a 32-22 defeat against Kenyan Universities’ UAP Kifaru at Nakuru Athletic Club in Kenya.
Hima Rwenzori unleashed an attacking onslaught in the early minutes, camping themselves inside the Kifaru half until Adrian Kasito secured a 3 point penalty lead.
Kifaru replied with Puis Shiundu’s try just after George Mutuku’s good penalty for a 10-3 score. Rwenzori closed the gap with Isaac Tago’s try that had Adrian Kasito showcase his great conversion ability.
However, Kifaru hesitated leaving any stone unturned, when Otieno and Dan Odwako touched prior the breather. Rwenzori only crossed the try line twice in the second half, courtesy of Ronald Mussajagulanyago and Constant Cap, Adrian Kasito converting only one kick.
Defending Champions Ndovu also emerged victorious against Bollore Chui, edging the 27-10, thanks to Edwins Makori, Felix Oloo and Ekurutu’s efforts.
