It was a perfect way to start for new golf captain Henry Rugamba, as the his first tournament ended with a perfect bang combined with a cross section of East Africa and Asian culture as Chinese Xiang Ming and Annette Kiconco, claimed the Captain’s Bell Golf tournament at the par 72 Kitante golf course over the weekend.

Ming, beat a total of 175 golfers of a wet and fast course with a score of 71 nett on count back in a tournament that was sponsored by Saint Augustine International University and East African Breweries.

The tournament had an element of vast cultures with a Burundi Dancer troupe entertaining the guests that included Members of Parliament from Kenya, which made a perfect union for East African golfers, but on the other hand it also had a taste of Asian culture with several Chinese golfers taking part in the one event that is organised by the captain at the Uganda Golf Club.

Annette Kiconco, was the ladies winner returning to the club house with 70 nett. The Kenya Members of Parliament who were last here in December last year will return on June 14 when they play at a tournament to be held at Palm Valley Golf and Country Club at Kakungulu Estate on Entebbe Road.

Gerald Kabuye, claimed the men’s Group A with 71 nett while Allan Muhereza was winner group B with 74 nett. Chinese Wu Kun was Group C winner with 74 nett on count back.

John Kato, was group D winner with 77 nett on count back. Saint Augustine International University partly dressed up the national golf team that took part in the Africa Zone IV Golf Championship that took part in South Africa and also sponsored them.

Monica Ntege and Lydia Mutesi were group A and B winners in the ladies category with 75 and 78 nett respectively.
