Deo Akope shot + 10 to miss the cut at the R1.2-million Zambia Sugar Open that is taking place at the par 73 Lusaka Golf Club with projected cut at +3 by the organisers.

Akope started his opening round with a dismal start which saw him begin with a double bogey on the first two holes and a bogey on the third. He followed that up with a par and birdie on the next two holes.

Then he went for two pars and then ended his first nine with a bogey with a total of 42. He then got his back nine to a head start with a birdie on the tenth hole then followed up with six consecutive pars on the next holes and then ended with two bogeys to complete his round with a total of 81 gross.

The Zambia Sugar Open is part of the Sunshine golf tour however  Deo Akope will have to improve on his results if he wants to break into the lucrative European Golf Challenge tour which is his goal.

He ended his second round with a total of four over par 76 and eventually make the cut. He once again missed the cut however the only East African golfer to make the cut was South African based Kenyan golfer Stefan Engell Andersen East African golfer.

Other Kenyan golfers who failed to make the cut include Nelson Mudanyi, Njuguna Ngugi, Richard Ainley and Greg Snow.
