Former Kampala City Council goalkeeper, Salim Jamal has revealed he targets a glittering career possibly in one of the best European clubs.
“I signed a 4 year deal with my new club (El Merriekh), but I will work tooth and nail to see that I move to a European club”, Jamal told Kawowo Sports.
The former Mbale Municipal, Express and KCC football clubs goalkeeper recently put pen to paper with Sudanese money moguls, El Merriekh in a deal estimated to have landed KCC a cool $ 40,000.
Jamal attributes his meteoric rise to stardom to hard work and self belief.
“In life, one has to be with a vision. I worked hard to see that I keep in the top most shape at all times. We the right opportunity came knocking, I was in the right frame, form and fit enough to attract many clubs”, the youthful goalie adds.
Life in Sudan:
Jamal, who returned from Sudan recently, is worried of the intense heat in the country.
“The high temperatures are the only worry for me otherwise, I am more than ready to fight my way into first time football as a play with diligence to achieve my dream of playing for a top European club in the years to come”, the first born boy, third in the line of 12 children added.
Jamal is a great shot stopper with outstanding abilities to thwart aerial threats and penalty stopping abilities.
He returned to the Uganda last week after signing a 4 year contract at El Merriekh and is expected to leave for Sudan by the close of June 2014.
Mike Sulaiman Mutyaba was the other Ugandan to have played for El- Merriekh.
