2014 Airtel Rising Stars National Finals:

In Fort Portal (Buhinga, Boma and St Leos Kyegobe grounds)

26th – 30th June 2014

Team Uganda Airtel Rising Stars lady’s head coach, Hadijah ‘Lady Mourinho’ Namuyanja is impressed by the progress of the youth football programme she started with 4 years ago.

“Surely this youth football programme (Airtel U-17 boys and girls football) was a timely boost to the development of Uganda’s football”, Namuyanja told Kawowo Sports.

Africa’s best:

After being voted as Africa’s best lady coach from the Airtel training programme held in Nigeria, Namuyanja believes the Airtel Rising Stars has helped to identify, groom and further nurture the young talents.

“Besides identifying the potential football talents, the Airtel Rising stars programme has also helped the players to have self belief in themselves as we continue to guide them in football and lifestyle sessions” she adds.

The 4th season of the Airtel Rising stars programme will climax by the close of this week.

Several regional qualifiers were played in all the 8 FUFA Zones and the national finals begin this Thursday at Fort Portal.

A selected crop of 18 players from either gender will be chosen by Airtel Scouts and coaches to represent the country in Gabon later this year.
