U-17 Airtel Rising Stars:
Boys’ Final: Kitara 1 – 0 Kampala
Alex Ssentongo’s perfectly volleyed effort after 26 minutes has witnessed hosts Kitara clinch the Airtel Rising Stars U-17 football title after a narrow 1 – 0 victory at Buhinga grounds in Fort Portal on Monday. Rookie Ayabale crossed in a decent ball from the right. Ssentongo’s first touch was awesome as it flew at the back of Kampala’s net.
There was excitement from the mammoth crowd as King Oyo Nyimba made a grand entrance minutes to the end of the first half.
Kitara pockets Ugshs 5M for finishing winners of the boys’ category and Kampala bags Ugshs 3M.
Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sedrojevic watched the game as well as the U-17 team coach, Matia Lule. A select team of 18 boys and girls has been picked by the special Airtel football scouts to represent Uganda at the Africa U-17 Championships in September 2014.
The African Championships will take place in Gabon and Arsenal coaches will train the boys and girls in a training camp for one week.
