Girls’ Final: Kampala 1 – 0 West
Esther Naluyimba’s strike 5 minutes to full time has helped Kampala region win the 2014 Airtel Rising Stars Under 17 football tournament at the Buhinga grounds in Fort Portal town.
Naluyimba’s strike has been the only goal of the day that also dethrones defending champions, West.
With the match stagnated and penalties loming, Naluyimba received a decent through ball from Spencer Nakacwa and sprinted past the tired looking West defence.
“It is good that I scored but the goal belongs to all the team”, an excited Naluyimba has told Kawowo Sports after the final whistle of the match watched by Cranes coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sedrojevic.
Kampala thus wins Ug shs 5M while West pockets Ug.shs 3M.
