After firing an amazing score of 137 (5 under par) over the opening two days of the 2014 Rwanda Golf Open, Kenyan professional golfer, Dismas Ndiza is poised for top spot if current form and favour is anything to go by.

Ndiza played 3 and 4 under on day 1 and 2 respectively to shoot into an early lead with two more rounds to play.
The Kenyan ace is going for the Nyarutarama club course of 67. He holds the Uganda Golf Course record at 64, and boosts of the three other gongs.

Ndiza also holds the course best records at Kitale (66), Kisumu (65) and Muthaiga (65).
Rwandan top professional John Baptist Hakizimana (2 under) and Kenyan Sullivan Muthugia  (2 over par) closely follows.

David Waku follows at 3 over while the temperamental left handed Richard Ainley is 5th with 5 over.

Uganda’s Denis Anguyo and Deo Akope are in the top 10 cut as Jinja based Professional Opio Onito fights to make it by the close of business on the third day.

Several amateur players including the defending champion, Aphrodis Nyirinkwaya are still playing with the climax coming up on Saturday.

Jules Mutesa, Celestin Habineza and Patrick Uwumukiza will be the other players to watch.

The 4 day event, the biggest on the local Rwandan golfing calendar is being played at the Nyarutarama Kigali golf club.
The tournament whose theme is “Celebrating 20 years of Liberation” has been sponsored by Equity Bank, GOtv and Serena Hotel at a tune of Rwf27m.
