Kampala City Council head coach, George ‘Best’ Nsiimbe is worried of the swelling numbers of players that have run of contract with the league defending champions.
“The club is in negotiations with close to 6 players whose contracts expired at the end of last season”, Nsiimbe, a former Cranes International said.
KCC started training sessions for the new season on Monday with less than 10 of the old players on the team.
With the exception of the players on national team (Brian Majwega, Ivan Ntege), only Herman Wasswa, Ronnie Kisseka, Habibu Kavuma, Steven Bengo, Derrick Nsibambi and goalie Emmaunel Opio trained.
Tom Matisko, who only signed his contract extension on the day sat out alongside, Tonny Odur, Saka Mpiima.
Reliable sources within the club indicate goalie Nicolas Ssebwato, Richard Malinga, Fahad Kawooya, Rogers Aloro, Ivan Ntege, Saka Mpiima, William Wadri and Gaddafi Kiwanuka all ran out of contracts.
“This panicky situation is dangerous for us, but a learning experience how to prepare for the future”, Nsiimbe told Kawowo Sports.
KCC has already signed close to 8 new players.
They are ; Owen Kasule (from URA), Brian Omony (Azam – Tanzania), Yasin Mugume (KJT), Martin Elungati (SC Villa), Francis Ssembatya (Lweza), Paul Muchwerezi (Mutundwe Lions).
The club is in talks with Kira Young for goalie, Ashadu Bugembe and defender, Richard Kassaga, Murushid Jjuuko from SCVU and Simon Namwanja from the already relegated Proline f.c
