AFCON 2015 Qualifier:
2nd August 2014:
Mauritania Vs Uganda
At Olympic Stadium
Uganda Cranes will travel to Mauritania this Thursday without the services of striker, Emmanuel Okwi.
“We have released the player (Okwi) to go back home and rest after a nagging groin injury”, Katende Malibu, Cranes media officer told Kawowo Sports on Sunday.
With striker Yunus Sentamu left out of Micho’s plans for the return leg, this leaves the Pretoria based Geofrey Massa, Hamis Diego Kizza and Brian Umony the available natural forwards in the camp.
Meanwhile, the team will start training at the artificial turf of Njeru technical center on Monday.
“We have to acclimatize to the same pitch conditions like those of the Olympic stadium in Mauritania where the fixture will be held”, Micho told Kawowo Sports earlier in the week.
Uganda foreign based players will join the rest starting Sunday night. The Kenyan based legion of Khalid Aucho (Tusker), Geofrey ‘Baba’ Kizito and Godfrey Walusimbi (Gor Mahia) jet in first Sunday night before the rest of the pack join in.
Geofrey Massa and Tonny Mawejje are expected while Moses Oloya, Goal Keeper Dennis Onyango, and Luwagga Kizito will all be in the country by Tuesday.
