AFC Leopards 2-2 Gor Mahia
Uganda Cranes centre forward Daniel Sserunkuma salvaged a point for Gor Mahia FC after netting twice as his side drew 2-2 with rivals AFC Leopards in a Kenya Premier League (KPL) match played at Nyayo stadium.
The ex-Express FC and Victors FC forward who won the man of the match award restored parity for K’Ogalo in the 43rd minute when he headed home after jumping high and above Jackson Saleh following a Patrick Oboya’s corner after Noah Wafula had given AFC leopards a deserved lead with a cool finish in the 31st minute.
Sserunkuma gave the champions the lead three minutes after restart after beating an offside trap to tap home past Wycliffe Kasaya to send the Green Army into frenzy.
From then on, Bobby Williamson’s charges sat back to defend the lead but found themselves level thanks to Martin Imbalambala’s long range strike that left goalie Jerim Onyango crawling on the ground in the 81st minute.
The draw means former Uganda Cranes coach Bobby Williamson is yet beat AFC Leopards in four encounters since taking over the Gor hot seat mid last year while Sserunkuma has scored I all but one game in the Mashemeji derby.
Meanwhile, besides Sserunkuma; three other Ugandans featured in the biggest game in the KPL. Cranes midfielders Musa Mudde (AFC Leopards), Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito (Gor Mahia) and defender Godfrey Walusimbi (Gor Mahia FC) whilst compatriot Arthur Semazzi was an unused substitute for K’Ogalo.
