Richmond Kickers (US) Vs Crystal Palace (ENG)
Uganda Cranes defender Henry Kalungi will have a chance to rub shoulders with ex-Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh when his Richmond Kickers side faces Crystal Palace on Monday July 28, at City stadium.
Palace, on a pre-season tour ahead of the much anticipated 2014/15 EPL season has already scouted on the USL Pro side with Henry Kalungi one of the players they expect to give them a hard time according to the club’s official website.
“Henry Kalungi is an imposing central defender who skippers the Kickers. Kalungi, 26, played at Winthrop University and has 15 caps for the Ugandan national team. Strong, quick and a true leader, he will hold the Kickers’ defence together and provide a stern test for the likes of Dwight Gayle, Glenn Murray and Marouane Chamakh tonight,” read part a statement on a scouting report on www.cpfc.co.uk.
The kickers come into the game in decent form after beating Harrisburg City Islanders 2-1 in a USL Pro league two days ago.
Luke Vercollone (penalty) and Sascha Gorres scored for Richmond while Matt Bahner netted Harrisburg’s consolation in a game Kalungi featured for 90 minutes.
Kalungi who is once again expected to lead his side will become the second Ugandan in a space of three days to face an English side after ex-skipper Ibrahim Ssekagya featured for New York Red Bulls against Arsenal on Saturday.
