George Ssemwogerere’s Benadir from Ethiopia commence their 2014 Kagame Cup campaign against defending champions Vital’O from Burundi at Amahoro stadium this Saturday afternoon.

Ahead of the tie, Ssemwogerere who is part of the team staff though the national team coach of Somalia told Kawowo Sports that the boys are ready for the encounter though he admits it will be tough against the champions.

“We are set for the fixture,’ Ssemwogerere told Kawowo Sports. “It’s always tough playing against a champion especially in the opening fixture of any tournament but we’ll give it all we can,” the ex-Express FC skipper added.

His assistant James Magala also spoke with confidence but admitted they are just building team for the future.

“We can shock a few people on Saturday though ours is a long term project,” Magala explained.

The team is officially coached by OMAR Mohammed Nasir.

Jamal Salim’s El Merriekh face Police FC while Ibrahim Mugisha’s APR FC play Atletico.

In other games on the day El Merriekh of Sudan; home to Ugandan goalie Jamal Salim Magoola will be action against Police FC of Rwanda formerly coached by Sam Ssimbwa.

The youthful goalie who joined the club from KCC FC in June is expected to be in goal for the 1993 champions.

Elsewhere, Rwanda giants APR FC face Burundi’s Atletico FC in the day’s biggest game. Former Cranes’ goalie Ibrahim Mugisha is part of APR FC’s technical staff though he also doubles as the Amavubi goalkeeping coach.
