Vital’O (Burundi) 5-1 Benadir (Somalia)
CECAFA Kagame Cup champions Vital’O started their title defence with a 5-1 victory over Benadir of Somalia as the tournament entered day two.
Hamad Ndikumana opened the scoring for the Burundi side with a long range shot in the 15th minute before substitute Moussa Mossi made it 2-0 at the death of half time with a well taken penalty after a foul on Tuyisenge Pekeyake in the area. Second half substitute Laudit Mavugo made it three nil with twenty minutes left on the clock.
In the 84th minute, Abdi Rizak Ali got one for Benadir with arguably the best goal of the campaign so far. The number four rounded off the entire back-line plus the goalie before slotting home attracting cheers from the neutrals in the stadium.
However, any hopes of revival vanished as Mavugo completed his brace with an easy goal before defender Mustafa Hassan Osman netted into his own net for sixth goal of the game but Vital’O five.
