Uganda Cranes midfielder Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito believes his side deserved better than an early exit from the ongoing CECAFA Kagame Cup.

The KPL winners drew 2-2 with Rwanda’s APR FC in their third group B game a result that left them with no chance of progression to the next stage and rendering their last group game against Djibouti’s Telecom a dead rubber.

“I don’t think we played badly in the whole tournament,” Kizito told Kawowo Sports.

“We gave our all in all games and it’s hard to believe we’re out. The results we’ve so far achieved in this tournament don’t in any way reflect what happened on the pitch,” he added.

Kizito who won the man of the match accolade scored the equalizing goal that had given Gor momentum before Walusimbi put them in the lead a few minutes to full time but a late equaliser from Patrick Sibomana meant K’Ogalo stayed bottom of the group with just a single point.

On the manner in which they bowed out, Kizito who was out of words but admits it happens in football before adding that focus now turns to the league.

“Mere words can’t explain how I feel because we were so close. Losing in the last minute of the game is one thing that you never want to happen but that’s football. Focus now turns to the league,” he concluded.
