2014 King of the Table Winners:

Men – Finals: Amos Ndyagumanawe 8 – 4 Alfred Gumikiriza

Women – Finals: Jacinta Kajubi 5 – 4 Ritah Nimusiima

Pool players, Amos Ndyagumanawe and Jacinta Kajubi are the 2014 winners of the maiden Master of the Table pool tournament, an invitational event for the top seeded pool players in Uganda.

Ndyagumanawe beat Alfred Gumikiriza 8 – 4 in the men’s final to take home the winners’ plaque and U.shs 500,000 while Jacinta Kajubi overcame a hard fighting Ritah Nimusiima 5 -4 in a grueling match up.

“This is a perfect opportunity to warm up for the national finals due next weekend at Lugogo”, a visibly excited Ndyagumanawe told Kawowo Sports at a fully packed Lumas pool arena shortly after the finals.

Enroute the finals, Ndyagumanawe beat Samona Skin clubmate, Sula Matovu, 6 – 4 in the quarters before coming from set down to see off Ntinda based player, Oscar Ocacakon 2 – 6 at the last 4 stage.

In a remarkable fashion of true fighting spirit, Ritah Nimusiima rallied from 3 games down to force a decider with eventual winner, Kajubi as the game tied 4 all.

Eventually, Kajubi won it all as Nimusiima succumbed to a poorly executed red ball to the table pocket

“This tournament has been a success for the Pool Association of Uganda. Being the first of its nature, I am happy about its progress and hopefully, all goes well in the coming editions”, Farouk Wamala Kisuze, the PAU president remarked.

Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) sponsored the tournament that exclusively featured the top rated pool players per gender.

Both winners received a glittering PAU branded plaque with Ndyagumanawe pocketing U.shs 500,000 while Kajubi got U.shs 300,000.

The first and second male and female runners up were rewarded with 250,000 and 150,000 respectively.

Focus will now divert to the national pool championships due on Saturday, 6th September 2014 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
