FUFA’s sponsorship partner, Nile Breweries Limited have today launched the Cranes Na- Mutima phase II version with a target of rising over U.shs 400M for the national team.

“During the duration of the Cranes group stage games between – September to November 2014,  for every Nile Special beer bought, fans will be required to check under the crown for a code, SMS it to 8888 and 30/- will automatically go to an established Cranes Fund”, Onapito Ekomoloti, the Nile Breweries Corporate director said.

At least U.shs 400M is expected to be fetched from this promotion with all the proceeds channeled to the national team coffers.

Accountability:

NBL’s head of Corporate affairs stressed how efficient the company will conduct themselves as concerns accountability of the collected funds.

“We are a refuted organization and promise that all the collected monies will be given to Uganda Cranes and put to its rightful use”, he added.

With the federation looking forward the home fixtures against Ghana and Togo plus two away games against Guinea and Togo, some of that lump sum will be available to be used.

FUFA CEO, Edgar Watson believes the development is a great initiative by Nile Special.

“This is really good because the national team seeks to look for options of funding than gate collections and government help”, he told Kawowo Sports.

Meanwhile, musician Jose Chameleon has composed a new song ‘Cranes Tubonge’ in line with the Cranes Na- Mutima campaign, which will resume in Gulu at a date to be communicated.

Uganda is due to host Guinea tomorow at Namboole Stadium in a 7:30 pm fixture.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
