The second edition of the Media Football Gala is back and this time around bigger and better ahead of the kick-off on Sunday 21 September at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.

The gala was this morning launched at a brief ceremony held at Victoria University, Jinja road by the coordinator of the media gala Joseph Kwizera together with various sponsors of the one day gala.

“The main purpose of the gala is bringing media houses closer to each other to foster cohesion rather than to view each other as enemies in business,” Kwizera said at the launch. “It is also a way of encouraging networking within the media fraternity and other sectors as a way of expanding their horizons.”

This year’s edition will feature a record 25 media houses and they will be grouped in four groups that is A, B, C and D. Each team will be made of 7 players that will be playing 7-a-side with each team limited to one woman, but they can also be teams that will be able to have only one man and six women.

The duration of play with be 10 minutes each half the top two teams in the four groups will advance to the quarter-finals. Group A has WBS TV, Top Radio, Galaxy FM, Radio City and Record TV. Group B has defending champion’s Bukedde, Tiger FM, Uganda Parliamentary Press Association and KCCA(guest team).

Group C has New Vision, Wavah FM, Digida FM, Pearl FM, Investigator, Top TV while Group D has Urban TV, Hello Newspaper, Sanyu FM, X-Fm and International Media Houses.
