Initiated in 2009, The FUFA Big League (Uganda’s second tier) is slated to start Tuesday 2nd October 2014 with eight games on card.

“The fixtures for the first round have already been finalized and action will start on Thursday, 2nd October 2014” Ali Mwebe, FUFA’s head of Competitions Directorate told the media at a weekly press conference on Wednesday.

The league that has 23 teams grouped into two groups (Elgon and Rwenzori) will see Maroons FC and CRO kick-start at their backyards against Wandegeya FC and JMC respectively.

In the Rwenzori group, Synergy FC will host VCC, while at the Uganda-Kenya boarder, Busia United will engage Proline.

Elsewhere in Elgon group, Namasagali will be up against The Saints, Ndejje University play against Baza Holdings in Luwero district before Padia host Ngora Fredda Carr.

At the end of the season, the top team per group will automatically qualify for next season’s top flight league – The Uganda Premier League.

The second and third rated teams (per group) will engage in a play-off format to determine the third team that will join the above two.

While the last three teams from each group will be demoted to their respective regional leagues.
