Less than 24 hours after showing Steven Bogere the exit, SC Villa has unveiled Sam Ssimbwa as their new head coach.
Ssimbwa was unveiled to the press at the club’s offices in Lungujja on Wednesday October 1 with the club clarifying he has signed a one year renewable deal.
In his own words, Ssimbwa who was flanked by Club Vice President in charge of general duties, Dennis Mbidde and club CEO Ivan Kakembo vowed to take SC Villa to where they belong by winning trophies.
“I am winner and my objective is to take SC Villa to the top because it’s where they belong,” Ssimbwa told Kawowo Sports after his unveiling.
The former Express FC, Mbale Heroes, Sofapaka FC and SC Victoria University tactician will start his reign against URA FC on Friday at Ssaza Ground, Mityana.
Meanwhile, SC Villa CEO Ivan Kakembo quashed media reports that insist Bogere was sacked by clarifying he is due to travel for a coaching course in South Africa.
“Bogere wasn’t sacked but he had to go for studies in South Africa. His course’s duration is six months and he will take over our youth team when he returns,” Kakembo said.
Efforts to get Bogere’s side were futile as he didn’t respond to our phone calls.
