Uganda Cranes midfield gem, Tonny Mawejje believes history won’t count when they face Togo in the group E clash of the Orange 2015 AFCON qualifiers.
The Cranes host The Sparrow Hawks on October 11 at Namboole before flying to Lome four days later for the return match.
Togo enjoys a good record against Uganda with no loss from the previous four meetings with the most recent two ending 3-0 in favour of the West Africans.
“True they enjoy a good record against us (Uganda) but that won’t count this time round,” Mawejje told Kawowo Sports on phone from Iceland where he plies his trade with Valur FC.
“Don’t forget we also have a gallant home record to protect,” Mawejje added.
The ex-Masaka LC midfielder; scorer of the only goal that earned Cranes a vital point in Ghana also stated that the Cranes always target maximum points at home and see what happens away.
“Our target from the home tie is victory and then see what happens in the away encounter. But first things first.”
Uganda sit top of group E with four points while Togo is at the base with zero points from two fixtures.
